TL;DR

ZenConvert processes your files entirely in your browser. Your images and videos never touch our servers. We collect minimal account data (email, payment status) and never sell it to anyone.

1. Who We Are

ZenConvert ("we", "our", "us") provides a browser-based file conversion service at zenconvert.app. Our service converts images (HEIC, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, etc.) and compresses videos directly inside your web browser using WebAssembly technology.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Because all file processing happens client-side, we never receive:

-Your image or video files - they never leave your device.
-EXIF data or metadata embedded in your files.
-Thumbnails, previews, or any portion of file contents.
-File names (these stay in your browser memory only).

3. Data We Do Collect

Account dataEmail address (collected via Clerk authentication when you sign up).

Usage countersWe count conversions per day per account (image or video type only - no file contents). Used to enforce free tier limits.

Payment dataProcessed by Lemon Squeezy. We store your subscription plan type and status only. We never see or store card numbers.

IP address hashA one-way hash (not the raw IP) is used for anonymous rate limiting for non-signed-in users. This cannot be reversed to identify you.

Error logsCrash reports via Sentry - stack traces and browser info, never file contents.

4. How We Use Your Data

-To provide and maintain the service.
-To enforce free vs. Pro tier limits.
-To send transactional emails (e.g., payment confirmation) via Resend.
-To investigate bugs and crashes.

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with data brokers.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use only essential cookies set by Clerk for authentication (session token). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. No cookie consent banner is needed because we have nothing non-essential to consent to.

6. Third-Party Services

ClerkAuthentication provider. Stores your email and manages your session. Privacy policy: clerk.com/privacy.

Lemon SqueezyPayment processor. Handles all card data under PCI-DSS compliance.

VercelHosting provider. Processes HTTP requests and serves the application.

SentryError monitoring. Receives crash reports (no file data).

ResendTransactional email (receipts, welcome emails).

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your user record, usage logs, and subscription data within 30 days. Payment records may be retained longer as required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

-Access the data we hold about you.
-Correct inaccurate data.
-Delete your account and associated data.
-Export your data in a portable format.

9. Children

ZenConvert is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify signed-in users by email at least 14 days in advance.
